What Do Calipers Measure?

Inside Measuring: Using the small legs on the top of the caliper, slide the closed tool into the area or object being measured and then open the jaws as far apart as possible

Outside Measuring: Similarly, for measuring the outside of an object, open the jaws and place them around an item, closing until they can no longer close.

Depth Measuring: To measure depth put the main bar of the caliper to the top of the object being measured and open until the blade reaches the bottom.

Step Measuring: For step measuring, place the sliding part of the jaw on the upper step, and open until the fixed jaw hits the lower step.
