Spherical roller bearings are manufactured as a double row and both have barrel-shaped rollers that rotate within an outer ring and move in parallel with one another. The use of a spherical roller bearing enables you to create almost perfect alignment compensation between the housing and the shaft, which can be caused by mounting or machinery errors.
A spherical roller bearing is suitable for use in circumstances where there are large radial loads or when extensive misalignment can occur. However, they should only be used at low or medium speeds because of the poor kinematic performance that they have.
There are a number of applications where spherical roller bearings can be used, including wind turbines and power generation, pumps and mining machinery, steel rolling and transmissions, transportation, marine environments and other general engineering situations.
